Learning Content
We have lost one third of technicians since 2008. To save our profession and rebuild our workforce, we need to work together, laboratories and colleges, to attract and develop new talent.
Apprenticeships was how our training began, and it still has a future, building skills and knowledge together.
- Understand what are the main causes in the huge fall in the numbers of dental technicians.
- What are apprenticeships – how do they work- how long will it take, what will they learn - will they be able to register with the GDC. How much will it cost. What is my responsibility as an employer? How do I recruit. Who will help with the forms. How do I access a course? How many days will the student be at college. What about digital dentistry. All will be revealed!
Aims
Why can we not find dental technicians to employ.
Why have the numbers of registered dental technicians fallen by over a third in the last 15 years
Why are we not recruiting new people into our profession and our college course struggling to survive.
